The European

So I have always gone upstairs to Siglo for cocktails with visitors from out of town but I have never gone downstairs to The European at all.

Located up my favourite end of town on Spring Street the wine bar come restaurant is old school nice with a strong French influence and some great wines. With a limited (but quality) menu it is a great spot for rainy midweek Melbourne nights. The communal table out the back is a great way to dine amongst others and will have you yelling at the rest of the team that you take along making for a boisterous night.

I would definitely recommend a visit to the The European for quality French food and Euro wines.

A North Melbourne institution

Auction Rooms is by far one of Melbourne's most popular cafes for brunch on weekends. Ever since it got a write up in the The Age about a year ago this place has a line up of about 10 people minimum. It is well worth the wait for a great breakfast.

There is an art to waiting tho. Make sure that as soon as you get there pop your name down with one of the guys on the left hand side door and then grab a coffee from the counter when you enter from the right hand side door. If it is a sunny day chill out with you mates on the grass in the medium strip with said coffee or simply go check out some of the cool shops in the area such as Ramona Tienda, Quirk and Co or Kids in Berlin on Victoria St. Walk back and your table won't be far off from being ready!

Auction Rooms won't dissapoint its the wait for a table on weekends that can kill you. Get in before 10 am or pop your name down and you should be right!

Pizza Pizza Pizza

I can't go on enough about this place. Everytime I have someone come and stay I always take them to DOC pizza in Carlton. Get on board. There is such a great atmosphere and the pizza, jamon and mozzarella is just great. No bookings, just rock up. Don't forget to save room for coffee and dessert across the road at Brunetti.
